Piper
Ch. SureShot Clansmen Reveille - My constant companion. My shadow. My most recent loss.

Piper had originally been sold but then came back to SureShot when she was two years old. A bit tentative at first, she was quickly turned into a show dog with confidence. She just needed the encouragement. Only a few weeks after her return, she was in the ring and picking up her first points. The remaining points followed quickly. Her last time in the ring was the GSCC National where she picked up an award of merit.

A "no problem" kind of dog, she was also an outstanding mother. Usually, mothers decide that the puppies should be weaned fairly early on. Not Piper. She was insistent that she feed her puppies right up until they lost interest (insistent enough to chew through a wood door to get to them when I tried to give her a day's rest - the pups were seven weeks old). However, her care and nurturing of her puppies paid off as she raised her offspring in a manner that resulted in calm, intelligent, and tractable pups. I'm grateful to her for that.

No breeder usually wants to get a "return" but, in this case, I figured that fate intervened to bring the two of us back together. This was one cloud with an incredibly silver lining.
