A few Q's in NADAC
Erin, Ticket and I spent the weekend at a NADAC
trial (Ticket's first one). It's such a relief to not have to think about that
ding-dang table for a whole weekend. And some of the games are really fun.
Erin picked up two Q's (in Advanced Regular and in Jumpers) and Ticket picked up
three Q's (in Touch 'N Go, Novice Regular, and Jumpers). Except for a few
really bizarre runs, such as the one when Ticket left me far behind while in hot
pursuit of the scent of hot dogs being consumed just outside the course, we were
really close in time. A second here; two seconds there. Although I could see
how we'd lost some seconds on wide turns and a few ground sniffs, it made me
concerned that we were that close to times and might always be struggling
against the clock. That's when someone asked me why I was running at those
heights. Sure enough, I could have dropped both the girls down one jump height.
The heights aren't really an issue but the lower heights would put them in a
different time category. Sheeesh. That would have been enough to qualify in
five more runs. ::kicks self hard in
butt:: It's not that I don't read the rules;
it's just that there's so many different organizations, I just can't seem to
sort out what to run in each one of
them.
So now, after thinking it'd be a
few months before we'd go to another NADAC trial, I've found one out of town
that's a few weeks away. I simply have to see if this makes a difference, even
if it means a weekend away to do it. Wish us luck!
