A holiday visit with therapy dogs of all shapes and sizes What makes a good therapy dog? A therapy dog is a dog of any size, breed, color, shape, sex or age. The most important factor is the dogs personality. He should be even-tempered, good-natured and able to accept handling by other people. He should be happy to be around people and show this by having a wiggling body or tail. A reticent dog might cause someone to feel that the dog doesnt want to visit them because they arent good enough or lovable enough. The ideal therapy dog should be alert and attentive to what is going on around him, but focused enough to remember what he is supposed to be doing. |
