Rokeena Gordon Setters: Memories of Special Dogs

This page is devoted to the Gordons bred or owned by me, who have had a great and lasting effect on the way my Gordons have evolved. Over the years, some have had more influence than others, and some have touched my heart more than others and some are just so special I still miss them so much and thank them for all the good times. (The imported dogs I have used in Rokeena's development can be seen on the relevant page).

CH. NABSIDE SCOTCH THISTLE
("Lani")
Although not a 'Rokeena' she was my very first Gordon. Not knowing anything about the breed when I got her I am eternally grateful she was so sound to be my foundation and such a wonderful pet for my children.

CH. ROKEENA WHITE HEATHER
("Bracken")

'Bracken' will always be special as my first homebred Gordon. She is the dam or grand dam of a number of great Gordons and is in the pedigree of most of the Gordons I have bred. She was also a special show Gordon, winning BIS at one of the largest Specialties (110 entries) held here in Victoria under American judge Mrs. Marcia Hall Brown in 1982. Her movement always caught the judge's eye.

GRAND CH. ROKEENA BLACK APPOLLO
("Arthur" to all his many friends)

What can I say about this amazing dog? He had it all! Not only was he a consummate show dog winning numerous BIS All Breeds, and Specialties and in his tragically short breeding life, siring 7 champions, two of whom went on to become Grand Champions themselves. He was also the most fabulous charactered dog you could ask for. All who met him fell in love with him. His exuberance for life and humans was renowned and his antics still make us laugh today. The day he died a little bit of myself went with him.

AUST. NZ. CH. ROKEENA BLACK TITAN
('Dudley')

Dudley is 'Arthur's' brother and was a star in his own right. He also is a multi BIS All Breeds winner and sired a number of today's top winning Gordons, his daughter winning 3 Specialties in a row. He lived with, and was loved by, Beryl Small. Dudley also touched the hearts of many such as Karen and Carl Van der meer in New Zealand who showed him to his New Zealand title and big wins over there as well as many others who had a part in his show career.

CH. ROKEENA BLACK ATHENA
('Zara')

'Zara' was Arthur and Dudley's sister and also had an illustrious career. She won many BOS at Specialties, and Bitch of the year for the Gordon Setter Club of Victoria.
