The Great Achievements at Rokeena and more...
BEST IN SHOW!
In April 2002, 'CHASE' made PBGV History by being the first PBGV to win "Best Exhibit In Show" (All Breeds) in Australia under New Zealand judge Mrs. G. Johnson. This gave Charlie and Helen Ingher's 'Charlen Kennels' in the USA the added distinction of having bred two history making Peebs as they also bred the first PBGV in the USA to win Best In Show (All Breeds).
'Chase' does it again!
At Melbourne Royal (Australia's most prestigious show) Chase took out NO 3 in the Hound Group under Mr. Jon Cole from USA. What makes this more remarkable is the fact that he took NO 4 in Group at the same show last year, making him the only Hound to be in the Group Placings at this show, two years in a row.
'Chase' beats 1650 dogs at All Breeds Show. In November Chase took Runner Up In Show at one of our big All Breeds Shows. Mr. B Shelton from the US just loved him and commented after giving him NO 1 in Group that he looked like he was the dog the US had used to do the outline for the Breed Illustrated Standard. The Runner Up in Show was awarded by Mrs. F. Somerfield from the UK, Which made this win more exciting as it was by two judges from two different countries!
'Chase' returns home to the USA in style. Sadly, in May 2003, 'Chase" returned to the USA after leaving some lovely offspring behind as a legacy. He did it in grand style, by taking our 'Best Opposite Sex at the National', beating all his other male counterparts in his home country.
More History Making at Rokeena...
'Simon' (Choucan Simon Says) makes history by becoming the first PBGV ever to have the title Aust & NA Ch. added to his name.
'Bubbles' (Aust. Ch. Rokeena Tres Bien) has had the distinction of being the first PBGV in Australia to have the TD (Tracking Dog) title added to her name and after a wonderful 'track' a couple of weeks ago seems will shortly have her TDX. We are very proud of her great achievement of being able to excel in the field for which these dogs were bred.
Things of Interest...
It is interesting to note, Sydney Royal show (Easter 2002) with an entry of 9 dogs and bitches had the largest entry of PBGV's to date at any show in Australia. It will be interesting to see how the numbers increase over the coming years.
I am totally in awe of the skill (and patience - which she needed plenty of with me!) of my good friend Bev Holoboff who has designed this wonderful Web site for me (I am sure all who have enjoyed reading the site will have noticed and enjoyed the ease with which you can navigate and her artistic flair) so if you are interested in having a site set up for you I can not recommend her more highly.
Danish Breeders visit Australia - Gunnar Nyman and Holger Busk from the famous Chouan Kennels in Demark have returned home from Australia after 6 weeks visiting our shores. They have seen more of Australia than most Australians on a trip which culminated in a frenetic 10 day visit with us here at Rokeena. Whilst here Gunnar, judged two Breed Specialties in Victoria, one in NSW, part of the NSW Hound Specialty and some Toy Breeds here at one of our huge All Breed Shows. Russell and I have had the most marvelous and fun time with these to great people who have imparted freely so much knowledge to me regarding the breed. I thank them for this and hope I will be able to have a visit with them in their country in the not too distant future.
Picnic At Hanging Rock - The PBGVs DownUnder group had their first official get together in the form of a Picnic At Hanging Rock. Although only small in number those who could attend had a great time and enjoyed listening to and watching Gunnar give instructions on how to groom a PBGV for the ring.
